Technical Help / Not getting past else
OK, from the context I suppose it is 1:N from Pay to PayChecks. And so, among the fields of the Pay table, there should be a field named (by default) "PayChecks". Since you have a relation, the first "select" can be replaced by the dereferencing of the relation, which simplifies the script. It would start with something like: if Period = "YTG" then for j in PayChecks do If I read the code correctl
Technical Help / Count similar records in same table
Newbie question... I'm trying to write a formula to count the number of records in the same table which match a certain condition. For example, in a table called "Customers", I want to create a calculation field that counts how many other customers have the same name as the current record. I'm completely lost! I've tried somethign like this, but with no luck: cnt('Customers'.'First Name' where 'Fi
Technical Help / Want to use this to manage farm production
I'm considering shifting from spreadsheets to a database app to help me organize data on my farm. I want to be able to zoom out and view specific details about my operation. I"m currently trying to look at the following types of data: - master list with information about each crop so I don't have to look it up at planting time - list of planting dates, when planted, when plant comes up, etc. - har
Technical Help / One of my tables has automatically been nested in another. Why, and how can I revert this?
Hi, I've just started using Ninox, and I'm running into quite a few issues... One of them is as follows: I had two separate tables ("Personnes" and "Films"), but, for some reason, "Film" has been automatically nested in (made child of) "Personnes". I don't understand why that happened, and I don't want it that way. How can I fix this? Thank you very much.
Technical Help / FAQ
Hi jurgenvt, 1. Ninox does not offer this feature. You could help you with field visibility rules: A (fancy) example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9cqpc3dv6hvfxz0/Hidden-Password.ninox?dl=0 Have a look at "Display only, if" of the Password field, the table's trigger on create and the action button. 2. Encryption is planned. Local databases are stored at ~/Library/Containers/de.ninoxdb.ninox-mac.Ninox
Technical Help / is it possible to copy a view?
Thank you for asking Mr. Mconneen. Primarly the form view and the table view. I haven't used the layout element view yet. But propably I think it would be very convenient to be able to copy that one too! (but you already can if you can form and table view?). I started this conversation because, producing a 'perfect view' can be timeconsuming. Versions should be tested before release. If you want t
Technical Help / How do i copy a drop down list from one database into another one?
If you are using the Ninox App for Mac, iPad or Android tablet you can use the function "Import data" on the start screen of your database to achieve that. In this function you have the possibility to import tables from other databases that are saved in the "My databases" tab into your database (image below). Although, in the Ninox Cloud this is not possible.Another option is to change the user en
Technical Help / Ninox Display is Unpredictable
Hi, Thank you for your feedback. The refresh function has two sides: If it refreshes immediately and you create records (which are empty in the start) or change data it might be that your record disappears also immediately as it not fit to your filters and groups. If it not refresh immediately not need to press the refresh button form time to time or close and reopen the current view. The display
Technical Help / How do I split a table?
Thanks Mconneen for your input. I've given that a go and whilst that is an elegant solution technically, I end up with a series of tabs across the top of the table, each corresponding to a category. If I only had a few categories then it would be perfect. But if I have twenty or more categories, then the names of the categories in the tabs get truncated and some become invisible. So from a navigat
Technical Help / Something strange with U.S. Locations
@Birger, that has not been my experience. cnt / count returns the number of items... and YES.. in an array the ordinal position starts at 0. Here is a snap shot of a three item array.. the count is THREE Here is a count of another three item array .. where the second item (ordinal postion 1) is empty. Notice that the count says 2... In my opinion, it should say three like the prior example.
