As a distribution network operator, Stadtwerke Zehdenick GmbH is responsible for the secure supply of electricity, gas, water, wastewater and district heating in Zehdenick, Brandenburg. Their service portfolio also includes the construction of photovoltaic systems, green maintenance and technical management for cities and municipalities.

Challenge

Stadtwerke Zehdenick was facing a technological revolution: The previous solution based on MS Access was outdated, no longer expandable, poorly connected; important information was difficult to find. A digital, sustainable solution was urgently needed.

At the beginning of 2025, Ninox was chosen, not least because of its excellent support and simple Low-code programming. Particularly important in Zehdenick with regard to legal regulations and requirements regarding data protection, to rely on a German provider with a local contact person.

The changeover took place on our own within just two weeks. Project manager Steffen Neidick: “The implementation went smoothly, MS Access was replaced in a very short time, data from Excel was transferred and a first front end with clearly structured input masks was set up in around 60 hours — including a test phase. ”

Solution

Today, Ninox digitally maps the entire power grid process. Sales representatives document meter assemblies directly on site: Photos, signatures, GPS data and time stamps are recorded, PDFs are automatically created and all departments are immediately informed. What used to be laborious and paper-based is now consistently digital and significantly more efficient. The digitization of transactions had an unexpected effect: thanks to precise data, crimes worth a mid-five-digit amount could be documented and proven.

The quotation system has also been optimised: The processing status is updated automatically, and technical requirements are incorporated directly into the processing. Communication between departments and service providers runs more smoothly via Ninox.
