Ninox supports medical aid organization
Especially when it comes to volunteer work, it is important that it is not unnecessarily burdened by technical-organizational obstacles. The doctors from the Saxon section of Interplast Germany use Ninox to organize operations in Tanzania.
Customer profile
Interplast Germany e. V. is a non-profit organization that enables people in developing countries to live a better life through plastic surgery. This includes, for example, congenital malformations, skin tumours or wounds that do not heal, as well as severe disfigurations due to accidents, wars or fires. The operations take place on site, and all participating doctors work on a voluntary basis.
Challenge
Excel unsuitable for patient records and surgery planning
Interplast Germany is regionally organized. The Saxony Section cooperates with two provincial hospitals in Tanzania. Four times a year, teams of 4 to 6 specialized doctors travel to the East African country for around two weeks and treat an average of around 40 patients of all ages there. Christoph Zimmermann has been taking part in such assignments as an anesthetic nurse for ten years. He was looking for suitable software to organize work on site more effectively. The Excel spreadsheets used up to that point were too inflexible in the long run, difficult to synchronize and were also unable to save images.
Solution
Save time with individual Ninox solution
During his research, Christoph came across Ninox at some point and developed a simple but convenient solution without any programming knowledge, which well supports the very individual processes on site. Problem: When an Interplast team arrives in Tanzania, they usually don't yet know what to expect there. The preselection of patients is made by the doctors of the relevant hospital. That's why things have to be quick on site: assessment of cases, creation of a patient record with master data and findings, and scheduling of operations with a clear presentation in the calendar. Photos to better identify patients are taken with a smartphone and transferred to a Macbook. Information on follow-up measures such as association changes, etc., is also collected with Ninox.

Benefits
Ninox has significantly facilitated the organizational work of the Interplast teams in Tanzania. Although some of the medical equipment is stored in local hospitals, a lot of material still has to be brought from Germany every time it is used. Since the amount of luggage on air travel is limited and any additional weight causes enormous costs, medically necessary materials have priority over technical equipment such as computers during transportation. With Ninox, mobile devices such as smartphones can now also be used locally for data collection and management. Even if there is no stable Internet connection. Statistical evaluations are usually carried out after assignments in Germany. Ninox supports Interplast's great work with free software accounts.
