Digital planning of 1,700 work sequences per month
Order planning for each workplace is often carried out initially in the existing ERP system. However, the detailed and sequential production planning is done manually. This digital break makes it difficult to react to changes in real time.
Customer profile
For almost 100 years, the Swabian family company, Conzella Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH in Albstadt, has stood for high-quality lathe tips, centering cones, centering tips and special tools of top quality and precision. The company with a high level of vertical integration was one of the first manufacturers in Germany of rotating centring tips. Today, Conzella Precision Tools serves over a thousand customers and is an original equipment manufacturer for well-known machine manufacturers, tool retailers, machine factories nationally and internationally.
Challenge
Paper-based plans and data were always out of date
Until now, scheduling per cost center was initially carried out in a linked ERP system. The production order was then printed out and detailed planning or sequencing was carried out manually for each workstation, machine and associated personnel. The challenge now was that the printed production orders could not be adjusted in real time to schedule changes, material availability problems, delays in external processing, as well as machinery and staff shortages. The result was additional planning lists created manually in Excel, which were prone to errors and time-consuming. Constant schedule and sequence adjustments in the ERP system were also not practical due to the effort involved.
Solution
Real-time transfer of order data from ERP to Ninox MES system
Based on the problems identified, management has decided to examine alternative, digital solutions. Requirements were real-time synchronization with the existing ERP and automation of relevant processes. With the involvement of the Ninox Premium Solution Partner, the SME Cloud Software GmbH, the digitization of production planning & control was implemented using Ninox Smart-MES-365. A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) aims to digitize production and make the value chain more productive. Specifically, an MES is a software solution that provides a digital image of production, for example to ensure order planning and control, sequence planning on the machines, data collection and material management. An MES therefore effectively acts as a digital connector between ERP and production.
Key features
- Connection to document management system DocuWare
- process optimization
Benefits
The benefits of Ninox Smart-MES-365 This is because manual planning processes are no longer required. Today, production order data is transferred from the ERP system to Ninox in real time. Production orders are approved and sequential planning per machine and workstation is carried out through work preparation. Any changes to the sequence can be made on the planning board in real time. With the personnel order management center, orders are automatically assigned to the respective workplace and employee, and the MES time management implemented in Ninox ensures seamless BDE feedback to the ERP system. The digital solution, the fulfillment of the requirement profile, and the cost-effective implementation were for Conzella Decisive for success.
